III. The ocean is very different from the land

    A. Can you tell a plant from an animal?

    B. To tell what kind of animal something is, we group it with other animals that look similar (work with dry shells)

    C. Animals need ways to protect themselves like shells, spines and camouflage (pass around live animals)

ocean - one of the four largest bodies of water on earth

sea - a large body of water but smaller than an ocean

continents - one of the seven largest pieces of land on earth

island - a piece of land completely surronded by water

ocean floor - the rocks and mud underneath all that water

habitat - the kind of place a plant or animal lives

alive - a plant or animal that is born, eats, grows and has babies

dead - a plant or animal that was alive but isn’t anymore

inanimate - something that never was alive, like a rock
